
Americans for the Arts, in conjunction with the Congressional Arts Caucus celebrates Arts Advocacy Day 2008 today, in which more than 500 arts advocates from across the nation visit their representatives on Capitol Hill. A highlight of the day is a Congressional hearing entitled “Role of the Arts in Creativity and Innovation” hosted by Representative Norm Dicks (D-WA), Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior. Robert Redford, John Legend, Kerry Washington, The Conference Board CEO Jonathan Spector, Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann and Americans for the Arts President and CEO Robert L. Lynch, will testify at the hearing and emphasize the importance of developing strong public policies and appropriating increased public funding for the arts.
